Spatial reasoning test: free practice

A spatial reasoning test checks how well you can picture a shape and move it in your head. Here each question shows a shape made of squares and asks which option is the same shape turned, as opposed to flipped over, or which shows it after a set turn.

Tips for the real one

  • Follow one distinctive square, like the marked one or an end, round the turn.
  • A quarter turn clockwise moves the top of a shape to the right-hand side.
  • If two options look the same as each other, neither is likely to be the answer.

Who uses them

Employers use them for apprenticeships where the job needs them, often alongside other tests. Real ones are usually longer, and many are timed. The firm’s invite tells you which test it uses, and how long you get.

These questions are Apprenza’s own, written in the same style. They aren’t any employer’s or test provider’s real questions.
