Diagrammatic reasoning test: free practice

A diagrammatic reasoning test shows shapes going through a chain of boxes, where each box changes them in one way: it might turn them, flip them, swap them round, change their colour or take one away. You follow the chain to see what comes out, or work out what each box does from a few worked examples first. It checks how well you follow a process one step at a time.

Quick test

A fresh set of questions every time.

Take the boxes in order, left to right, one change at a time. Where there’s no key, work out each box from the examples first. Have some rough paper ready.

Tips for the real one

  • Start with an example where a box works on its own: it shows what that box does with nothing else in the way.
  • Check one kind of change at a time: the order of the shapes, which way they point, their colour, and how many there are.
  • A flip and a half turn can look the same. Check a shape pointing sideways: a flip top to bottom leaves it alone, a half turn doesn’t.

Who uses them

AXA UK, Salesforce and Schroders all say on their own pages that their application process includes one. Real ones are usually longer, and many are timed. The firm’s invite tells you which test it uses, and how long you get.

These questions are Apprenza’s own, written in the same style. They aren’t any employer’s or test provider’s real questions.
