Privacy notice

Updated 31 October 2026

The short version

  • Using the list doesn’t need any personal details.
  • No cookies and no advertising.
  • We count visits to see how many people use the site and how they find it. Your internet address is never stored.
  • The only thing you’d ever give us is your email address, and only if you make an account or join the weekly email, or your name and message too if you send a partner enquiry. Feedback needs no details at all.

Using the list

You can use the whole site without telling us anything. Like any website, our host (Vercel) sees your device’s internet address when it sends you a page.

Apply buttons take you to the employer’s own site. From there, that employer’s privacy notice applies, not this one.

Counting visits

We count visits so we know how many people the site reaches and how they find it. Each page you open tells our server:

  • which page it is
  • the website or app that sent you, such as TikTok or Google: its name only, never the page you were on, plus any tag on the link you followed
  • whether you’re on a phone, tablet or computer
  • your rough location, worked out by Vercel from your internet address: the country, and the town or city

On the practice tests, it also tells our server when you start a test and when you reach your results, and which test it is. Never your answers. Your score stays on your screen unless you’re signed in, when it’s kept in your account (below).

To count each visitor once a day, your internet address is turned into a scrambled code as it’s saved. The address itself is never stored, and the code can’t be turned back into it. Counting visits uses no cookies and saves nothing in your browser. We use the numbers only to see whether the site is reaching people, never to identify anyone, and we don’t share them. Visit records are deleted after a year.

If you open Apprenza from a school’s poster, its QR code tells us which school’s poster it was (its public school number), and that number is kept in this browser tab until you close it. If you then make an account or join the weekly email in that tab, we add one to that school’s count. Schools see totals only, never who.

The weekly email

  • What we keep: your email address, whether you’ve confirmed it, when you signed up and confirmed, and which week’s email you last received. Nothing else: no name, school or age.
  • Why: to send the weekly email of new openings you asked for. You confirm by clicking the link in the first email, and if you never confirm, you won’t get any.
  • Who handles it: the list is stored in our database (Supabase), and emails are sent through Brevo.
  • Opens and clicks: Brevo records whether each email is opened and which links are clicked, and its links pass through Brevo’s own web address on the way. We use this only to see whether the email is reaching people and is useful.
  • Leaving: every email has an unsubscribe link, and one click stops them straight away.
  • How long we keep it: until you unsubscribe. After that we keep only a note that the address has unsubscribed, so it’s never emailed again. To have it removed completely, email us.

Partner enquiries

  • What we keep: what you type into the form on the Partners page: your name, your organisation, your email address and your message, and when you sent it.
  • Why: to read your enquiry and reply to you. You won’t be added to the weekly email or any other list.
  • Who handles it: it’s stored in our database (Supabase). Replies come from our own email address.
  • How long we keep it: for as long as we’re talking about a partnership, then up to a year. To have it removed sooner, email us.

Feedback

  • What we keep: what you type into the Feedback box on any page, and your email address only if you add one for a reply. With it, the page you were on, what you were doing there (say, which question of a practice test), the size of your screen and when you sent it. Not your internet address.
  • Why: to fix what’s wrong and improve the site, and to reply if you asked us to. You won’t be added to the weekly email or any other list.
  • Who handles it: it’s stored in our database (Supabase). Replies come from our own email address.
  • How long we keep it: until it’s dealt with, then up to a year. To have it removed sooner, email us.

Your account

An account is optional: everything else on the site works without one.

  • What we keep: your email address, when you made the account and last signed in, and how you sign in (a code by email, or Google). Then whatever you add: the employers you save, and the applications you track (the employer, the role, its advert’s address, how far you’ve got, the dates you add for each step, and your own checklist and notes). When you finish a practice test or game while signed in, its score is kept too, so your dashboard can show how you’re doing: the test’s name, which numbered test or level it was, your mark, how long it took and when, never your answers. Finishing the personality questionnaire is noted the same way, with no answers and no profile. Nothing else: no name, school or age.
  • Teacher accounts: if you say you’re a teacher or careers lead, we also keep the school you pick (its public Department for Education number), your role (careers lead, sixth-form or Year 12 and 13 staff, or other), the part of your email address after the @, so we can show whether it matches your school’s own website, and whether you want the weekly teacher email. Your school’s poster totals come from the counts described above: totals only, never who. Switch back to a student account at any time and these go.
  • If you use Google: Google also sends your name and a link to your profile picture. They’re stored with your sign-in, but Apprenza doesn’t use or show them. Your Google account itself is covered by Google’s privacy policy.
  • Why: so you can sign in. Other visitors can’t see your account or anything in it.
  • Who handles it: accounts are stored in our database (Supabase). Sign-in codes are emailed through Brevo, which records whether each email is opened.
  • Your copy, and deleting it: your account page has Download my data, a copy of everything held about your account, and Delete my account, which deletes the account and everything in it straight away.
  • How long we keep it: until you delete it. Your account and the weekly email are separate: deleting one doesn’t end the other. The teacher email belongs to the teacher account: it stops when you switch it off, use the link in any of them, or delete the account.

What’s saved in your browser

Apprenza sets no cookies. If you bookmark employers, your shortlist is saved in your browser so it’s still there next time; clearing your browser’s data for this site removes it. Signing in moves it into your account, and it leaves the browser. If you sign in, your sign-in is saved there too, so you stay signed in between visits; signing out removes it. The site also reads a light or dark mode choice if your browser saved one from Apprenza, and keeps a short-lived note so the page can reload once if the site is updated while it’s open. If you start one of the game-based assessments, your progress through it is saved in your browser so a refresh or a break loses nothing; it’s cleared once you see your report. The same goes for the personality questionnaire: your answers so far are saved in your browser until you see your report. If you choose full screen for a game or a practice test, that choice is saved too, so the next one opens full screen. If you sit one of a practice test’s numbered tests, your best score on it is saved in your browser so the list of tests can show it. A school poster’s number is kept only until you close the tab (above). The shortlist, the mode and full-screen choices, the note, the assessment and those best scores stay on your device and are never sent to us; your sign-in is sent only to sign you in.

Your rights

You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it: email hello@apprenza.co.uk. If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, tell us first. You can also contact the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

If the site starts handling data differently, this page changes first and its date above is updated. Questions? Get in touch.
